E-Points
Each grading period, you are required to earn a certain number of Elective Points (E-Points). E-Points are designed to recognize the time and effort you put into band outside of your regular class rehearsals.
Your required E-Points come from two categories:
The easiest way to earn Pep Band Points is to participate in pep band performances. However, you can earn these points in several other ways if you can't attend a pep band performance or want to earn points through other musical activities.
Every 5 E-Points earned above the required amount will earn 1 point of extra credit.
Responsibility Points
Every student begins each quarter with 10 Responsibility Points. These points assume that all students are prepared, punctual, and responsible in their band class and lessons.
Students keep their Responsibility Points by coming to class and lessons on time, prepared, and ready to participate. Points may be deducted during the quarter for the following:
Pep Band Points
The number of Pep Band Points students must earn each quarter is based on the number of pep band performances scheduled that quarter (each performance is worth 4 points). The required number of points can be found on the quarter's Grading Sheet.
The easiest way to earn these points is to participate in pep band performances. However, students can also earn Pep Band Points through other musical activities. This gives flexibility if there are conflicts with pep band. Opportunities are listed below.

- Pep Band Points: the number of pep band performances scheduled during that quarter (4 points per performance)

- third missed lesson in a quarter: -6 points
- tardy to class or lesson: -2 points
- unprepared for class (missing music, instrument, tuner, or other supplies): -2 points

The easiest way to earn these points is to participate in pep band performances. However, students can also earn Pep Band Points through other musical activities. This gives flexibility if there are conflicts with pep band. Opportunities are listed below.
- Weekly Private Lessons (with verification; per quarter): 8 points
- Community Band or Honors Group (with verification): 6 points
- Two or more church performances (with verification): 4 points
- Summer Band Camp (with verification; can be used once in the quarter of your choosing): 4 points
- Small Ensemble, Brass Band, or Combo (per quarter of participation): 4 points
- Band Council (per quarter): 4 points
- Attending an Approved School, College, or Professional Concert (turn in program and concert critique form; maximum of 3 per quarter): 3 points
- Others as approved
