Week of January 19, 2026

In-School Judging
This is a big week! In-School Judging will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The schedule has been posted as well as handed out to everyone. All of the teachers have been sent the schedule, but you may use this hard copy as your pass out of class. This takes the place of regular lessons for this week. 

Reminders: 

• Dress up! This is a performance. You do not need to dress formally, but ripped jeans, sweatpants, or shorts are not appropriate for this setting. 
• Arrive about 10 minutes before you are scheduled to play. Get your stuff together and warm up in a practice room. Scales, lip slurs, long tones, etc. 
  • If you have a locker or things kept in the band room, remember you will not be able to access the band room during blocks 1, 2, or 4 to get your things. You need to leave your things in the locker room on the day of your performance.
• Grab your judge's copy and scorecard from the stands in the hallway. 
• When it's your turn to go in, give the judge the judge's copy and your scorecard. 
• After you play, the judge will give you some comments. Regardless of how you think you played, be respectful and politely listen/chat with the judge. 
• Immediately put the judge's copy back on the stand in the hallway where you got it from. 
• Fill out the reflection page (last page of your solo portfolio packet). You'll rip it out and turn it in to the basket in the hallway. Then you can put your things away and head back to class. 
• This is a 30 point performance grade and can not be made up if you forget your time. 

Pep Band
The 4th pep band performance of this quarter is Friday. Check in prior to 6:50pm. Theme TBD. Fill out the pep band conflict form if you are unable to attend this game. 

E-Points
This is the last week of the quarter and we will be putting the e-points in the grade book. 22 e-points are required this quarter (12 from basketball games, and 10 from responsibility points). If you have any extra e-points (private lessons, concert critiques, community bands, etc.) make sure you turn these in to your lesson teacher before the end of the week. 

2nd Semester Lesson Change Requests
On Monday during class we will be asking who needs to change lesson times for second semester. We highly encourage you to keep your same time, but will honor requests that are absolutely needed as we understand a change in classes may require this. If you are in a partnered lesson, both of you must agree to the block you will be trading to.
