Week of September 8, 2025

Lessons
Lessons are officially starting this week! Students were given a hard copy of the lesson schedule last week, which can act as their pass out of class. They can also be found on Google Classroom. Students should leave class about 5 minutes before their lesson to give them time to get to the band room and get their instrument out. Lessons begin at the time printed on the lesson schedule. 

This week, everyone needs to bring in their lesson book for a 5 point grade. We will assign something out of the book for the following week's lesson. We will also be working on the School Song and Homecoming Music, so bring all of that with you this week. 

It is the student's responsibility to remember their lesson time. Write it on your hand, make yourself a sticky note for your desk, set a reminder on your watch... do whatever you need to do to remember! 

If you have a conflict with your lesson time that you know of ahead of time (i.e. a test, an appointment, a vacation, etc.) it is your responsibility to trade lesson times with someone else. You may trade lessons with anyone that has the same lesson teacher. Groups must trade lessons together! Make sure you communicate with your lesson partner before agreeing to a trade. 

Missed lessons must be made up within 1 week. Excused absences (unexpected illness/absence from school) can be made up for full credit. Unexcused absences (you forgot, or you didn't trade) can be made up for half credit. All lessons not made up within one week will result in a zero. 

NEW: All Woodwind Lessons will be in the old band room. All Brass and Percussion Lessons will be in the New Band Room. ​

Marching Practice
We will be outside most (if not all) of this week to prepare for the Homecoming Parade. Dress for the weather, and remember laced tennis shoes! If you don't want to wear laced shoes all day, leave a pair in your band locker to change into during band. 

Game Friday
We have our second pep band performance of the season this week. We are excited to have the freshmen join us! A reminder that you need to check in with a drum major before 6:10pm. We will then load the buses and head over to the stadium. We will return to the High School after halftime.
